Thought I would update you on my mother's day highlights. Saturday morning we went out to breakfast downtown to avoid the crowds on Sunday. It was fun to go downtown since we really have not been much since we moved here. It takes no time at all to get down there, but it is really funny how people in the "city" think we have come so far from Wilsonville. Some people are not even sure exactly where Wilsonville is. I got my hair trimmed for Mother's Day (first time in a year) in the mall while we were there. The guy cutting my hair was amused that we had come "all the way" from Wilsonville that morning. I was amused that he was amused. It took us 15 minutes. Like, all day. It is funny too, how when we mention that we would like to live closer to the Gresham area eventually, people from "this side of town" would never live over there. Too "country" over there and not quite cool enough.
That is one of the things we enjoy about living here...we are in our own little small town, but it only takes a few minutes in any direction to find a fun adventure on the weekend. We have only been to the Spaghetti Factory once, but it is pretty funny how Benjamin knows right where it is when we pass it off I-5. He says, "oh look, it's the pasghetti pactory".
I think he had fun there :)
We started Mother's Day with a wonderful sermon at church by our guest speaker, Luis Palau. That was really fun to hear him speak on being a mother, who above anything else, teaches her children to love the Lord. Something I know, but is always good to be encouraged in. I am doing that as I "school" Bethany daily, but I know that my attitude could better reflect a love of Jesus to my kiddos. It is easy (especially lately) for hormones and tiredness to take over my attitude and for those problems to be blamed for a lack of cheerfulness (and patience) as a mommy. I am so blessed as a mom with a wonderful daughter and son, and a healthy pregnancy. VERY much to be thankful for, I know.
I also got to talk to my mommy on the web cam. Not as good as seeing her on Mother's day, but certainly fun to see her face and talk for a bit. We have really enjoyed having our web cam. Love you Mom, and can't wait to see you soon! The Lord has certainly blessed us with wonderful moms and grandmas.
My day was topped off, and even highlighted, by a time out for ice cream with Bethany. We always have fun when we get a chance to go out just the two of us. I so enjoy hanging out with her and look forward to having even more times as she grows-up and our conversations deepen. She is a sweetie-pie! She picked out a lovely lavender candle all by herself for my Mother's Day present.
